I have to admit, I've been really nervous about having two kids. But I found this on the baby website I check, and it really touched me. Thought I'd share. : ) Always love you, Cooper!!
I walk along holding your 2-year-old hand, basking in the glow of our magical relationship. Suddenly I feel a kick from within, as if to remind me that our time alone is limited. And I wonder: how could I ever love another child as I love you?
Then she is born, and I watch you. I watch the pain you feel at having to share me as you've never shared me before.
I hear you telling me in your own way, Please love only me. And I hear myself telling you in mine, I can't, knowing, in fact, that I never can again.
You cry. I cry with you. I almost see our new baby as an intruder on the precious relationship we once shared. A relationship we can never quite have again.
But then, barely noticing, I find myself attached to that new being, and feeling almost guilty. I'm afraid to let you see me enjoying her as though I am betraying you.
But then I notice your resentment change, first to curiosity, then to protectiveness, finally to genuine affection.
More days pass, and we are settling into a new routine. The memory of days with just the two of us is fading fast.
But something else is replacing those wonderful times we shared, just we two. There are new times only now, we are three. I watch the love between you grow, the way you look at each other, touch each other.
I watch how she adores you, as I have for so long. I see how excited you are by each of her new accomplishments. And I begin to realize that I haven't taken something from you, I've given something to you. I notice that I am no longer afraid to share my love openly with both of you. I find that my love for each of you is as different as you are, but equally strong. And my question is finally answered, to my amazement. Yes, I can love another child as much as I love you, only differently.
And although I realize that you may have to share my time, I now know you'll never share my love. There is enough of that for both of you. You each have your own supply.
I love you-both. And I thank you both for blessing my life.

it wont be so hard - sometimes kids dont even have issues with the new baby. Corilynn hasnt with Ruby and Lyman just adores her. It is fun to see their relationship grow. Lyman was a bit nervous for Corilynn to come but now they are 5 and 3 and best friends forever.
This totally made me cry. It is so true. I felt incredibly nervous about taking away from Savannah when I had Sophie. Even in the hospital I was having such a hard time focusing on the baby because I just felt awful that Savannah wasn't with us. But seriously, Savannah loves her. More and more everyday I see that it has made Savannah's life better and what a gift it is for her to have her sister. And I love them both so much! Even though I was worried about how that could be possible.
Thanks for sharing! It totally made my cry, which isn't that hard these days, but it was sweet. I just asked Emma the other day if she remembered when it was just her and mommy and daddy. She just said "nope", which kind of made me sad because I remember those special times, but the times now are just as special!
Okay maybe it's those postpartum hormones, but this made me cry :) I can remember being pregnant with Gabe and feeling him kick and knowing that he was coming whether Logan (or I) was ready or not. And sometimes Logan acts out and I know it's because having Gabriel around has changed a lot in his little life. But I can also see that he loves him. And that makes my heart melt. You will be amazed at how much you immediately love this little girl. I LOVE that feeling of seeing your newborn for the first time and I am so excited you are going to experience that oh so soon!
:o) It made me cry too, Hayley and my postpartum hormones are very, very post!
It's true what they say: the more love you give, the more you have to give away. Coop is such an awesome individual (like his Mama). It will be a fun adventure for you both!
